Spend about 10 minutes to brainstorm and write down your goals.
2. What is your “Why?”
What will ultimately drive you to reach your goal?
3. What motivates you? What is going to make you stick to your goal?
Is it external, such as writing on the wall, a reminder on your phone, or a saying? Ensure your goal has that "why" attached to it, and it will make you motivated.
4. Understanding that the goal that you have chosen comes with a cost.
Are you willing to pay it? What's worth having doesn't come easy! Is the cost of your "why" and your goal worth it to you? If so, you are going to work hard for it.
5. Commit to one goal at a time and stick to it!
Keep your focus in one direction.
6. Align your goals with your environment!
List the resources that you possess that can help you achieve it! A coach, a workout buddy, etc.
Finish this sentence: Before/After [CURRENT HABIT], I will [NEW HABIT].
7. SMART Goals
The SMART method helps push you further, gives you a sense of direction, and enables you to organize and reach your goals.
S - Specific - The goal should have a clear, highly-specific endpoint.
M - Measurable -You are accurately tracking your progress, determining that you are working toward your goals.
A - Achievable - Setting a goal that's too ambitious can backfire and zap at your motivation.
R - Realistic - The goal you pick should be pertinent to your chosen field or should benefit you directly.
T - Timely - Setting a timeframe for your goal helps quantify it further and helps keep your focus on track. Setting goals is essential, no matter where you are in life. Without clear goals to drive you, you won't know if you are making progress in the activities you consider most important!
