The Three Cardinal Rules

What Do You Like Doing?

Exercise should be fun, not a chore. With that being said, not everything will be fun, and you will have to work hard at everything you do! If you hate a specific type of exercise, do something else!

There is always going to be something out there that you will enjoy. As I stated before, my favorite thing to do is weight train, so I had to find ways to do my cardio; I like playing soccer with my boys, riding bikes, hiking, rock climbing, and water and snow skiing!

Find what you like to do, and, well, literally, run with it!

My Workout Stack

Giving as much thought to your nutrition both before and after exercise, as you do to planning and packing your gear, scheduling your training, and recording your results, will make a noticeable difference in your day-to-day activity. Although most athletes tend to focus their attention on their physical exertion during a workout, a majority of the factors to achieve a successful training session occurs before and after the workout. When Can You Perform Each Day?
We all have the same twenty-four hours each day, and you only need to find a minimum of 30 minutes a day to work out. Even when your time is limited, something is always better than nothing.

I recommend exercising in the morning before that late workday or family obligations steal your time. You may only have fifteen minutes, but that is a great way to start your day. Schedule your gym workouts in your calendar; they should be treated like any other high-priority appointment.

Do your cardio at home, at lunch, or on a break. Set daily reminders to get your N.E.A.T. in; try getting up every half an hour to walk, and do a few jumping jacks and air squats.

Can’t do that? Then play a game with your coworkers by having them do 15 kettlebell swings and then passing it on to the next worker. Give them a 15-minute time limit to complete it. Do this all day; make it fun and competitive. You can find the time, and it will be well worth the effort!

Do I Really Need to Journal My Workouts?

YES, weight training is about making small improvements daily; therefore, you can’t do that without a workout journal! This action will keep you motivated, help you achieve your goals faster. Once the workout is documented and visualized, your workouts will be more effective. This technique was a critical factor that I used to become a professional drug-free bodybuilder.
